What is the best time to do the Har Ki Dun trek?

The ideal seasons are April to June and September to December. You’ll find blooming meadows in summer and snow-laden landscapes in winter.

It’s a moderate-level trek, perfect for beginners with good fitness. The trail is long but not very steep, making it scenic and enjoyable.

The maximum altitude you’ll reach is around 11,700 ft (3,566 m). Proper acclimatization is ensured with gradual altitude gain.

The Har Ki Dun Trek is a mesmerizing 7-day journey through the cradle-shaped valley of the Himalayas, renowned for its panoramic views, ancient villages, alpine meadows, and mythical connections. Starting from Dehradun, the trail takes you through scenic hamlets like Osla and Gangaad, up to the majestic Har Ki Dun Valley (11,600 ft), and back via breathtaking forests and riversides. With cultural richness and natural grandeur, this trek is perfect for nature lovers and first-time Himalayan trekkers.

Day 1: Drive from Dehradun to Kotgaon

  • 📍 Drive Distance: 196 km

  • 🕒 Duration: 9–10 hours

  • 🚕 Pick-up: 6:30 am (Hotel Grand Legacy, Dehradun) or 7:30 am (Library Chowk, Mussoorie)

  • 🏕 Basecamp: Kotgaon

  • 💰 Transport Cost: ₹1100 + 5% GST (one-way, non-AC) – pre-book required

Enjoy a scenic drive through Mussoorie and Mori Valley. Kotgaon is a peaceful village and serves as the ideal acclimatization point before your trek.

  • 🥾 Trek Distance: 6 km | 🕒 5 hours

  • ⛰ Altitude Gain: 6,455 ft to 7,825 ft to 7,667 ft

Start your trek after a short drive. Walk along the Supin River, passing remote Himalayan villages and forest trails to reach the tranquil hamlet of Gangaad.

  • 🥾 Distance: 8 km | 🕒 6 hours

  • ⛰ Altitude: 7,667 ft to 10,032 ft

Trek through the traditional village of Osla with its wooden houses and temple. Climb steadily through coniferous forests and meadows to reach Kalkatiyadhar campsite.

  • 🥾 Distance: 9 km | 🕒 5–6 hours

  • ⛰ Altitude: 10,032 ft to 11,600 ft (Har Ki Dun), then descend to 10,760 ft (Boslo)

This is the highlight of the trek. Reach the grand Har Ki Dun valley surrounded by snow-capped peaks. After soaking in the views, descend to Boslo campsite.

  • ⛰ Altitude: 10,760 ft to 9,930 ft

Descend through lush forests and alpine terrain to reach Chillurgad, a scenic campsite near the river.

  • 🥾 Trek Distance: 14 km | 🕒 6–7 hours

  • 🚙 Drive: Short drive to Kotgaon

  • ⛰ Altitude: 9,930 ft to 7,825 ft

A long descent through forests and villages brings you back to Dhatmeer. From there, drive to Kotgaon and rest after your trekking journey.

  • 🕒 Duration: 9–10 hours

  • 🚕 Drop-off: Hotel Grand Legacy, Dehradun by 7 pm

  • 💰 Transport Cost: ₹1100 + 5% GST (one-way, non-AC) – payable directly

End your trek with beautiful memories as you drive back to the plains through scenic mountain roads.

  1. All accommodations are categorized under Standard Rooms. Triple/Quad-sharing arrangements
    accommodate four individuals per room, while double-sharing arrangements include two
    individuals per room.
  2. Please note that hot water for bathing is not provided during the Kedarnath stay.
  3. Children under the age of 5 are not charged; however, only one child is permitted in a group of
    four, and they will be accommodated within the same room.
  4. For children aged 6 to 8, half the adult fare is applicable. Children aged 9 and above are
    considered adults and will be charged accordingly.

Advance Deposit: To secure your tour package, please deposit an advance 30%
of total Amount

Pre-Tour Payment: Kindly ensure that 50% of the total amount is paid with in 5 to 7 Days after booking confirmation date, which is prior to the commencement of the tour. This payment serves as confirmation of your participation.

Final Payment: The remaining balance is to be settled upon your arrival, before
the start of the tour.
